Frequently asked questions

We are looking for a way to get proactive service notifications from our appliances, view our warranty and product information, and see the status of the GE Appliances we have in our properties. Can SmartHQ Management help?

Yes, SmartHQ Management allows you to connect compatible, smart GE Appliances to your WiFi network so that you can get proactive service alerts and notifications, see all the product details–including warranty information; and even update the software of your appliances remotely. If you are using SmartHQ Service as well, you can get precision diagnostics at the point of service, as well as the ability to access service bulletins, blow-out diagrams, and order parts.

Which GE Appliances will work with this system?

We have products with embedded Wi-Fi as well as products that can be retrofitted with a Wi-Fi module to connect to the internet. It is possible that the GE Appliances that you currently have in your properties can be retrofitted. We are currently working on creating a GE Appliances package for the multi-family channel that will have embedded Wi-Fi.

Can I set up SmartHQ Management myself?

Yes, SmartHQ Management is easy to set up on your own. All you need to do is create your SmartHQ Management account, download the SmartHQ Management commissioning app, and connect your appliances. If you would prefer GE Appliances do the set-up, you can ask about our pro install services when signing up for your account.

Can I see how appliances are performing and if they require attention? Do they send me alerts?

Yes, SmartHQ Management allows you to easily see all your GE Appliances you have connected to the system, how they are performing and if they need attention. You can access the portal through your browser on your computer or smartphone.

Do I need to have site-wide Wi-Fi?

It is preferred that you have site-wide Wi-Fi that the appliances can connect to. Tenant Wi-Fi networks can be unpredictable, and we would need to know their SSID and passwords. If those passwords have changed or if the tenant changed providers, we may lose connection to those appliances as well.

Is the SmartHQ Pro platform secure?

Yes, we are the first appliance manufacturer that has received UL’s IoT Gold security rating. We adhere to the same security standards defined by the financial services industry for encryption and security. For more info, please click here.

Who owns the data?

You will have access to appliance data through the SmartHQ Management dashboard and may even access raw data as part of your agreement when specified.

We do not want to see tenant data that is personal, can we just see diagnostic data?

We don’t share any personally identifiable information in the portal.

Do you work with insurance companies that are interested in learning more about smart appliances that can detect leaks?

We currently do not have any partnerships but would be happy to talk to your insurance provider to brief them on our solution and how that can be a factor in your insurance policy.
